Microbiz will not be going ahead in March 2016
Since 2003, the very popular annual one day business to business event, aimed at all small businesses and anyone thinking of starting a business, has traditionally been held in March in the Drill Hall, Horsham. Microbiz is organised by Horsham District Council as part of its business support programme. It is subsidised by HDC, but also relies heavily on sponsorship and exhibitor income.
In recent years visitor and exhibitor feedback found that an increasing number of the visitors were attending to carry out research into setting up a business rather than to buy from exhibitors. The last event in March 2015 attracted fewer visitors than in previous years, although the seminars were still very popular, as were the networking opportunities.
Following the 2015 event there was a general consensus among sponsors and exhibitors that it was time for a change, as the one day event was no longer commercially viable. The feedback also suggested that HDC concentrate on the more popular elements of Microbiz – business seminars and networking, which could be themed to support businesses at various stages– from those thinking of starting a business to existing businesses.
HDC is to undertake a business survey which will cover the various aspects of future business needs, including business support. The business survey feedback will help the Council to shape its programme of future business events. If you would like to take part in the business survey please email firstname.lastname@example.org
